Vlad Gheorghiu (script) Anna Benczedi (art) - Pământului bun puțină apă îi trebuie (Good Land Only Needs a Bit of Water) is a short story about water scarcity and the efforts of a small Romanian community to introduce plumbing into their village for over 20 years. This community has endured droughts and floods, while remaining an important agricultural presence of the region, in spite of not being situated near a significant source of water. I was paired with an anthropologist to bring this story to life. It appeared in November 2023 in Revista POC! (a documentary comics magazine), published by Bloc Zero.
As part of the visual research on this project, I went on-site to sketch, take notes, interview people, etc. A comics adaptation of my field notes is also published in the same issue.
